Renewing License Plates
Every automobile’s or motorcycle’s license plate, title, and registration must be renewed in Utah. The due date is always written on the vehicle’s title and other related documents. Generally, you get a notification reminder about 30 days before the expiration day.
How to Renew Your Registration
Utah offers several options to renew automobile registration. You may even use the automatic renewal option. It helps you not to forget about the deadlines. You have to sign in only once and then DMV emails you notice about an upcoming renewal. The notice always includes any inspection requirements that you have to complete on time.
Inspection criteria and payment will be verified on the appointed day. When your renewal is complete, the DMV emails you the notice and receipt. Your new package of documents and decals will be mailed to the address we have on file.
You have to also provide your bank account details for this process in order to allow for an ACH payment of registration update.
To sign out for AR just log in to the Motor Vehicle Portal and complete a TC-505 form.
Online Renewal
To save time, you may update your details online. All you need to do is have the following documents ready and scanned:
You have to pay applicable fees with a MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover credit card.
In-Person
Take your current certificate, as well as proof of identity and a driver's license with you to the nearest clerk’s office. You have to get ready all the required documents and the notice to the DMV office drive-through or lobby.
At the local office, applicable payments can be made in cash or by cheque. To minimize long lines, it is best to arrange an appointment ahead of time.
Postal Mail
Drivers in UT may undergo the renewal process via mail. You have to just send the required documents along with the payment cheques to the DMV.

If you haven’t managed to undergo the processes on time…
Actually, you have to complete all the necessary paperwork about a month before the deadline. You have to leave some time for the Department of Transportation to process your request.
In case you haven’t managed to do so, you may face fines and penalties. It will be added to the overall charge.
